I am a child and family photographer in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Photographing children brings me immense joy, especially since I have two kids of my own and know how fast they grow.
Even as a professional photographer, I am guilty of going months at a time without photographing my own children and then wishing I could go back and document every moment that I missed. From babies to toddlers, elementary school age to teens, I love being able to capture moments of you and your children.
There are so many wonderful locations for family portraits in Los Angeles. Your home and yard are often best for small babies and younger toddlers, as they feel most comfortable in familiar surroundings. If your home is not ideal, a park or playground can be a great place to play and get fun family photos.
Popular locations around LA include Holmby Park, Griffith Park, Griffith Park Observatory, Santa Monica beach and pier. With slightly older kids there are so many options from Abbott Kinney in Venice to the art district in downtown LA to Disney Concert Hall and the Rose Garden behind the Science Museum.
LACMA is a fun spot with the gas lamps exhibit and park behind the museum. There are so many other parks around the greater Los Angeles area for photo shoots, if you let me know where you are located I can give you options close to your home.
My approach to photographing young children is to approach the session as a “play date” where I just happen to have a camera with me! I was honored to be featured in Nikon Magazine and profiled for my unique approach to photographing children and the type of images that I create.
The little ones I photograph tend to have so much fun during the session that they don’t want it to end! My goal is to photograph your children in a way that brings out their unique personalities – the way they laugh and look at you, the way they grasp your hand as you swing them in the air or snuggle on the couch.
I also offer “day in the life” documentary style photo sessions where I spend a few hours with your family just documenting your everyday life, the little moments and spaces that make your family unique and capture a moment in time that is full of love and chaos and laughter and wonder that will be a memory before you know it.
